Nokia 5800 XpressMusic was launched in London and Singapore as the first S60 full-touch device by Nokia. It's exciting to take a closer look at the new touch OS.

The first S60 touchscreen handset packs a 3.2" screen of the exciting widescreen resolution of 640 x 360 pixels. A 3.2 megapixel autofocus shooter and VGA video at 30 fps are the imaging assets. There's quad-band GSM support and 3G with HSDPA.

Some of the other extras include: GPS, 3.5mm standard audio jack, TV-out and a microSD card slot. An ambitious music offering, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will come with 8GB microSD card in the retail package and stereo surround speakers.

With the Media Bar music, media and online content are a fingertip away. The Contacts Bar provide enhanced touch-based handling of contacts, including setting favorites, logging calls, texts and recent communication.

The touch-optimized handset comes complete with a stylus too, and for all who are about to frown at that, there's a plectrum-shaped alternative. The other controls are kept to the bare minimum. Below the massive touchscreen there's three-key combo The home key - Symbian key is flanked by the Call and End knobs.

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic units will surface at the beginning of next year. Otherwise Nokia 5800 XpressMusic worldwide availability is planned for this quarter of 2008 .

Nokia N96 - The new king of Mobiles !

Saturday, October 4, 2008

Being a successor of the Nokia N95 8GB, Nokia N96 has some king-size spec sheet to top and it can't be accused of not trying. There's FP2, double the built-in storage and DVB-H. The bloodline is strong but the crown is heavy and ancestral sins will be held against the heir twofold. The modest battery capacity and the downgraded CPU do raise some questions

Nokia N96 comes to top the Nokia multimedia portfolio, packing almost every single feature you can think of. It extends the functionality of its predecessor - Nokia N95 8GB with 16GB of internal memory, DVB-H TV receiver, and the latest version of the Symbian OS. There are also some more minor upgrades including music keys on the front panel, a kickstand more comfortable video watching, Navi wheel and dual-LED flash. On the negative side, the CPU has been stripped down but we will have towait see how this affects the performance.

Key features:

  • 2.8" 16M-color TFT LCD display of QVGA resolution
  • 5 megapixel autofocus camera with dual-LED flash and AF assist light
  • Built-in DVB-H TV tuner
  • Symbian OS 9.3 with S60 3.2 UI
  • Dual ARM 9 264 MHz CPU and 128 MB of RAM
  • 3G with HSDPA support
  • Quad-band GSM support
  • Wi-Fi with UPnP technology
  • Built-in GPS with A-GPS functionality and 3 months of free voice-guided navigation
  • Dual slide design with dedicated gaming/audio keys
  • Massive 16GB onboard storage
  • microSD card slot with microSDHC support
  • Built-in accelerometer for UI auto-rotation
  • 3.5 mm audio jack
  • TV out
  • Stereo FM Radio with RDS
  • Car charger in the retail package
  • VGA video recording at 30fps
  • USB and Bluetooth v2.0
  • One free N-gage game and Transformers movie preloaded
  • Keypad locking slide key

Main disadvantages:

  • Inadequate battery life
  • No camera lens protection
  • The @$$#% N81-inspired design
  • No office document editing out of the box
  • Doesn't charge via the USB port
  • Dreadful camera key
  • Cheap looking keypad
  • Unreasonably hefty price tag

Google Phone launched !

Friday, September 26, 2008

Google has launched its first mobile phone - a serious competitor to Apple's much sought-after iPhone Name Gphone G1

Like its rival, the G1 offers a large touchscreen and fast internet access.

However, Google believes the handset's slide-out full keyboard will make emailing and web browsing easier.

The second killer difference is that the G1 uses a new operating system, called Android, for which other companies are encouraged to develop applications.
Google promises that the G1's internet access will be as fast as any laptop computer, and it contains built-in support for the video-sharing website.

Nokia is all set to release its new device named Nokia 5800 Xpress music . It is Nokia’s initial touchscreen device running on symbian s60 ver 9 FP2 which is the best competition for Apple’s Iphone 3G.

INNOV8 from samsung

Monday, September 8, 2008

Samsung officially announced the Samsung i8510 INNOV8

- a multimedia monster, which packs top-of-the-range cameraphone capabilities along with Symbian S60 smartphone functionality.

Probably the biggest asset of the i8510 INNOV8 is its 8 megapixel auto focus camera, which has some advanced features such as face recognition, smile and blink recognition, auto panorama mode and geotagging.

The Samsung i8510 INNOV8 is a smartphone based on Symbian OS 9.3 with S60 3rd edition Feature Pack 2 and features quad-band GSM and dual-band HSDPA 7.2Mbps (900/2100 MHz) support. It also has a large 2.8-inch 16M color QVGA display - it serves the Nokia N95 8GB excellently, so we don't think it would have benefitted by a higher resolution.

Screen auto rotation is also available thanks to the built-in accelerometer.

The amount of RAM is 128 MB and there will be a dedicated 3D graphics accelerator. Unfortunately there is no information regarding the CPU used in this multimedia monster.

The Samsung i8510 also packs with some massive storage memory - a 8GB and a 16GB version will be available - That storage is further expandable via a microSD card slot.

For music playback, the i8510 packs stereo speakers, 3D surround sound effect and DNSe 2.0, which is Samsung's DSP technology, rumored 5.1 surround support. A standard 3.5mm audio jack will be present on board.

Users will also enjoy playback of DivX videos, which is a nice add-on. USB 2.0, stereo Bluetooth, FM radio with RDS complete the feature list.

Nokia N79

N79 is a 2.4" QVGA TFT unit, capable of showing up to 16M colors. Wi-Fi, GPS and a 5 megapixel camera

Nokia N79 also sports FM radio and FM transmitter, allowing you to broadcast your favorite tracks within a short range over radio waves.

Nokia N79, much like the N85, features the touch sensitive Navi wheel navigation solution which we first came to know in the Nokia N81. The N79 also has a 3.5mm audio jack and will ship with a 4GB memory card.

A novel feature of the Nokia N79 is its easily customizable exterior (and interior). The handset will come with two extra Xpress-on covers in the retail package and additional ones can also be purchased. When you put a new back cover on, the N79 recognizes its color and can automatically change the interface theme color to match it.

Nokia N85

A multimedia device to the bone, the Nokia N85 packs dedicated multimedia keys, accelerometer for automatic screen rotation, stereo Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack, TV-out, stereo FM radio with RDS and a FM transmitter. It will even ship with a 8GB microSD card to store your multimedia files.
A 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, dual-LED flash and autofocus assist light is mounted at the back of the device and that deserves attention too. It can manage the sweet VGA video recording at up to 30 fps.

The most novel feature seems the 2.6-inch 16M color OLED display - it's the biggest OLED display to be integrated in a mobile phone yet

Nokia 7610 Supernova

Wednesday, June 4, 2008

Its Reborn Era in Nokia it seems - for after the reborn of the famous 6600 its now time for the 7610 ,the successful phone is going to be reborn as 7610 supernova !

The Nokia 7610 Supernova is obviously the flagship of the lineup. While it's still based on the S40 user interface, this slider packs quad-band GSM/EDGE support, 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera, a 16M color QVGA display, FM radio with RDS and a microSD memory card slot.

The most interesting thing about the Nokia 7610 Supernova is the rumored capability of recording VGA resolution videos at the whopping 30fps - it's a rather unprecedented feature in S40 handsets as well as in most feature phones in general. The 7610 Supernova will also have a TV-out port to enjoy those presumably high-quality videos on your TV.

Thanks to the built-in accelerometer, a double tap on the Nokia 6600 slide can snooze an alert, silence or reject a call or simply wake up the hidden external 128 x 160 pixel display in order to visualize the clock. Vodafone to carry iPhone in India in September !

Saturday, April 19, 2008

Apple COO Tim Cook confirmed that Apple's expansion plans for the iPhone included India.
For a number of Indians, that day has already arrived thanks to unlocked iPhones, but many people are still waiting for the official release. That day may be coming soon, though, since Rediff is reporting that the iPhone will be coming to India in September of this year and that Vodafone will be the carrier.

The news is technically just a rumor, since it claims to come from a number of internal Apple and Vodafone sources. According to these sources, the 8GB iPhone will launch in September with a price of between 27,200 and 28,000 rupees, which at current exchange rates translates to $685 to $710.

If that's the case, Vodafone will be making a bit of money on the device (even if there is revenue sharing), and the company may also get a chunk of the Australian market as part of the deal.

No information about the terms of the deal, launch quantities, or sales targets is available, although one of the sources does hint that unlocked iPhones may also be available at some point. As usual, Apple and Vodafone are have no official statement on the deal, however we should be seeing an announcement sometime in the next month or two if the official launch will indeed be in September.

Nokia 7900

Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism is what the newly announced model is called. The new Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism was developed in cooperation with the designer Frederique Daubal and features unique laser-etched graphic designs and wallpapers as well as exclusive accessories.

Apart from the bling-bling crystal fitted on the navigational D-pad and the hip design of the aluminum back cover, the Nokia Crystal Prism is no different from the original Nokia 7900 Prism. It sports a 2" QVGA OLED display supporting up to 16 million colors. The user can also choose among 49 different colors for the backlighting of the handset.

In addition, the Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism features "living" wallpapers, which change dynamically taking into account the time of day, and the battery and signal strength status thus creating unique graphics for your home screen.

In addition to a 2 megapixel camera with flash, the phone comes with 1GB of internal memory (no memory card slot available). The 7900 Crystal Prism uses a microUSB port for data transfers, which is becoming increasingly popular among latest Nokia phones.

Nokia N82 Black version !

Nokia silently released the highly expected and speculated Nokia N82 Black version.

starting with the HSDPA with video calls and quad-band GSM support. The 100MB of integrated memory is complemented by the microSD memory slot. The 2.4" 16M color QVGA TFT display is among the other highlights.

Nokia N82, pretty much identical in hardware to the N95. It has 5 megapixel autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss optics, capable of capturing 30fps MPEG4 videos at VGA resolution, and has a TV-out port to watch those on your TV set.

The most significant difference to the Nokia N95 is however the built-in xenon flash which highlights the photo-centric nature of the Nokia N82, as well as the screen auto rotation.
