Nokia unveils the Nokia 8800 Arte

Tuesday, November 13, 2007

Nokia has created the brand new Nokia 8800 Arte . Made of exquisite materials they continue the tradition of the luxurious 8-series but add something of their own too.

Traditionally, the 8800-series of Nokia are not known for their high-end characteristics, however the new Arte handsets are about to change that.

Beside 3G functionality, the handsets also flaunt 3 megapixel cameras with auto focus. No memory card slot yet, but the 1GB of internal memory might just do the trick this time. The 8800 Arte comes with a 16M colour Oled display .

Their panels are covered by goat hide from Eastern India, which is manually embossed and has several protective coats to prevent the daily wear-and-tear.
The body of the Arte mobiles is again made by metal and glass .

Supposedly, that glass and metal body should be covered with some top-secret anti-fingerprint coating.

Microsoft eyeing on Mobile Phones

Friday, October 26, 2007

The software giant is now working with the sellers of the Windows Mobile platform phone manufacturers .Microsoft didn’t name the company who’d be selling the device though.

Analysts say, however, that the Microsoft phone is rather unwieldy because it’s basically just Windows crammed into a small device. If Microsoft wants the mobile phone to be consumers-smart, they’ll need to rethink its usability.

N95 vs iphone

Thursday, October 25, 2007

The original N95/iPhone battle may have moved onto new stomping grounds, but it's still a battle royal. Between strength and subtlety, between functions and form, between features and ease of use. Both devices are either aimed at totally different markets or aimed at the same market, depending on who you talk to. But the fact remains that the Nokia N95 8GB and Apple iPhone are the two most desirable smart devices anyone will be able to own

Trojan Virus Targets N95

The mobile virus called Trojan-SMS.Symb.OS.Virus specifically targets smartphones running Symbian 60 OS v 3. Kaspersky Labs in Russia spotted it first, and kudos to them, because this virus will cost you a lot of money as it sends SMS to a premium SMS number. This virus is not meant to be purely malicious; the virus author has profit on his mind because every viral SMS you will be paying for, half of the revenue will go to the virus author.
So far, the virus’s reach has been limited to Russia and countries where free software is a trend. This may be a curse to phones like the Nokia N95, which overreaches its “phone-ness” being dubbed as a “multimedia computer.”
If it is a “computer” then it should have what computers have too- VIRUS.

8GB Nokia N95 Music Edition

With an 8GB onboard memory and an additional microSD slot for extension, there would be some additonal features for the music edition.

New memory card format announced

Sunday, October 21, 2007

Leading mobile phone manufactures and semiconductor providers has announced that they will support the creation of a new memory card format. The standard is named Universal Flash Storage (UFS) and will be finalized in 2009

Micron Technology, Inc., Nokia, Samsung Electronics, Sony Ericsson, Spansion Inc., STMicroelectronics, and Texas Instruments announced today that they support the creation of a far-ranging industry specification for removable memory cards and embedded memory solutions.

The new specification, dubbed Universal Flash Storage (UFS), reflects the industry's need for a universal memory solution that removes the need for adaptors to accommodate different removable memory card sizes.

Major applications such as mobile handsets, digital still cameras and other CE devices will benefit from the convenience of a universal open standard based specification that is intended to reduce the time-consuming process of enabling interoperability among the various types of removable and embedded memory solutions at the system level. UFS is planned to provide consumers in the future with the convenience of a unified removable memory card that can be shared among various mobile, portable and other CE devices without the need for any adaptors.

The UFS standard is expected to be finalized in 2009.

Google Cell Phone for Email, Search and Web Browsing

Lehman analyst Doug Anmuth says the Google phone will be a “low-priced, simple form factor handset with an operating system specifically designed for Internet applications.” Anmuth, in a research report, said that a Gphone prototype has been developed and that Taiwan’s HTC Corp. is the phone’s likely manufacturer. Just hours after Lehman Brothers issued a report Tuesday stating that the so-called Gphone “could launch as early as February 2008,” Google announced it purchased Jaiku, a Helsinki-based company that develops blogging software for the mobile phone.

Once the unlocked iPhone hits the shelves of France, you may expect to see that India almost immediately - after all FedEx and DHL provide excellent shipping services. eBay India could have been a better place to buy unlocked iPhones but due to their policies or agreement with Apple, they are not allowing auctions or sale of any unlocked iPhone handset on their website. Nokia N95 8G starts shipping

Tuesday, October 16, 2007

It wasn't long ago that Nokia finally confirmed the news that the multimedia flagship Nokia N95 was to receive a pumped up version featuring 8GB of integrated memory and a number of other new features. Now the new version is closer to us all as it's finally getting shipped to stores worldwide.

The Nokia N95 8GB Edition comes dressed in black and has undergone several changes. The main one of course is the thrilling memory capacity of 8GB. It is technically 8.1GB as there are also 100MB of system memory for messages, ringing tones etc. The screen has also grown up from the 2.6" of the original to 2.8" in the new edition. The display still supports QVGA resolution and visualizes up to 16M colors. Nokia N95 8GB is powered by 1200 mAh Li-Ion battery as opposed to the rather modest 950 mAh in the original Nokia N95 - hopefully the new battery will be able to deal better with the phone's energy needs. The weak battery was probably the most criticized feature of the original N95 model. The higher capacity battery on the other side has resulted in removing the lens cover. Finally, another significant change in the smartphone's hardware has been made - the RAM is now double the size of the original to improve user experience with the browser or with multiple applications running in the background.

Samsung and Bang & Olufsen present Serenata

Samsung and Bang & Olufsen unveiled their ingenious and artful music mobile phone Samsung Serenata, designed by David Lewis, whose name is related to many of the products by Bang & Olufsen.

Samsung Serenata, looks more of a high-tech music player than a traditional mobile phone. Samsung Serenata is the successor of Samsung Serene, an exotic mobile phone, born again under the Samsung and Bang & Olufsen colaboration.

The tri-band GSM and HSDPA-enabled Serenata, you will notice that it is strangely oriented upside down. The touchscreen display is at the bottom of the phone, while the big navigation wheel is located at the top. The navigation click wheel serves multiple functions such as accepting and ending a call, browsing in playlists, typing messages, etc. It also incorporates a "C" and a "Back" key on it's up and down positions. Under the wheel are placed the "Music" and "More" context keys. Other curious fact is that the phone earpiece is located out of sight under the lacquered aluminum front panel.

The phone itself sports a square 256K color TFT display, good 4 GB of internal memory for storing lots of tracks and other data, and Bluetooth functionality.

When the phone is in Music mode the color of the display turns red, as opposed to the blue-colored display in Phone mode. Serenata has a built-in hi-fi stereo speaker system which delivers outstanding sound quality with no sound distortion even at the highest volume, thanks to the Bang & Olufsen-patented ICEpower amplification. The stereo speakers get revealed when you slide up the bottom part of the phone. Also, a built-in stand is provided, so as to conveniently position the player on your desk.

Having a hi-fi stereo speaker system in a mobile device comes at a cost of good 19.7 mm of thickness and the hefty 136 g weight of the device.

It goes without saying that it supports Bluetooth v2.0 and A2DP profile for listening to music on a stereo bluetooth headset and a USB 2.0 slot for fast data transfer. The camera of MOTO U9 is a 2 megapixel one, sporting video recording capabilities. The internal memory of the quad-band device is 25MB but that can be expanded through the microSD card slot, which supports cards with capacity up to 4GB. The final extra of the new MOTO is the CrystalTalk technology, which according to Motorola should ensure better talk clarity even in noisy environment

Main features include a "jewel-like" selection key,
metallic casing,
3 megapixel camera with LED flash and video recording capability
, 16Mcolor display, as well as your standard Series 40 features (loudspeaker, voice recorder, calendar). I
nformation is a little spotty, but don't expect too much from the Nokia 7088:
L'amour collection phones don't exactly have jaw-dropping feature sets - they're more focused on looks, styling, and weird circle designs.

Nokia N77

Nokia N77

One of the more affordable Nseries phones, the Nokia N77 "multimedia computer"candybar phone started shipping today to retailers and providers in Finland, to be followed up with shipments to India and Vietnam later this month.

The news was more or less meaningless to the folks over here and probably most countries in the world too. The reason? The N77 is a DVB-H handset, which means it supports the mobile television standard currently being pushed by Nokia. Unfortunately, DVB-H is still only available in select countries.

The flip side is that DVB-H should be coming to America later this year, but only through trial runs in larger markets (such as New York City and New Delhi).

Besides mobile TV and DVB-H, the N77 features a 2 megapixel camera, stereo sound, Symbian, and a 2.4 inch screen.
